Showing-my-age music-related stuff

The joy div film is more of a reality than I'd imagined. No Jude Law as Ian Curtis though. There's an interview with the producer here

So it really was Rowetta, formerly out of the Happy Mondays, on the X-Factor last Saturday - thought she looked familiar but couldn't be sure, thought I was seeing things. Bizarre, but good luck to her.

'Up North'

and I open the local paper, only to find these news stories:

Police station hit by burglary

EMBARRASSED police have carried out a security review after thieves broke into Darlington's main police station.

The cheeky raiders smashed a window and got into a storeroom where they grabbed several video tapes.

Sergeant Graham Charman said: "I suppose it's a bit embarrassing for us, but it just goes to show no one is above being burgled."

And then there's this:

The dirty tricks that have marred the campaign to become the next Member of Parliament for Hartlepool reached a new low when the police and fire brigade had to be called in the early hours of the morning.

Expanding polystyrene was sprayed down the length of the front doors and the double doors then chained shut making exit from inside impossible - although staff were still working at the time (approximately 3am).

Agent Richard Pinnock said: "This was an extremely stupid and dangerous stunt. I still had staff working in the back offices when this took place. Had there been a serious incident they would not have been able to made an exit via the front doors.

"We are grateful for the police and fire brigade but regret that they have to be called out because of stupidity and vandalism like this. Obviously this attack was politically motivated - I just hope that this is the last of these silly stunts.

"The people of Hartlepool are bored and fed up with this sort of thing - people want an honest debate about the issues."

(Honestly, it's taken me pratically all day to find the link - it's in the paper but not on their website... whatever's happened to their news sense?!)

Back! Back! Back!

It seems like ages since I last posted anything here. - mainly because my life became a bit too busy. At long last managed to find another job (start next week), then my evil psycho boss got the boot... so there's been a lot of things taking up my time in the past few weeks. It turned out other people had made complaints about her (I'd just managed to set the ball rolling - a rather stressful task nevertheless) and management were already sick of her incompetence - her bullying was just the icing on the cake. So now neither she nor me work there anymore. (I know, it's a bugger that I found a new job at the wrong time!).

I don't know whether she's totally delusional or just that she's good at putting on a front as she's dealing with her forced leaving as if it was always her plan to go and she was never supposed to work there for so long (one year?!). We all just sat there gobsmacked at her lies. At least I've got my compassion back again - with all the problems I was having with her this summer it got to the point where I really couldn't care less what happened to her; now I just feel very very sad that someone can be so screwed up.
